Scientific research in homeopathy

Highlights of the research
*Clinical research prooves the working of homeopathy
*Similia principle prooved on cel level
*Acceptance of Homeopathy is not a matter of research but a matter of belief

In his section we first present a Position Paper about scientific research in homeopathy. This position paper will continue to expand based on the good research being done every year. It will certainly be of help to someone who is looking for research data.

This overview is comparable to how the Faculty of Homeopathy in England has organized a good overview of the clinical research in homeopathy. Once you are on their site, you can also find a powerful statement.

In Germany the Carstens Stiftung Foundation sets the tone and has the largest homeopathic database of research data available for professionals. The database is called HomBRex database. Also there is in Germany the scientific society for homeopathy: WissHom, who has published in may 2016 in 55 pages a scientific review. Homeopathy is a common topic in the news in Germany. The television broadcast of 16 April, 2013 Bayerisches Fernsehen (with Dutch subtitles) gives a good insight in what homeopathy can do for humans and animals.

If you find this all too complicated, then read the story about The Lie about the Homeopathy-Lie.

One of the most important experiments in scientific research was done for more than 8 years at the University of Utrecht at the initiative of VSM geneesmiddelen bv within the framework of the HOMINT (Homeopathy International, DHU, VSM, Boericke, Peithner, Omida) organisation. At the Department of Cell Biology under guidance of the cell biologists Dr. R. van Wijk and Dr. F.C. Wiegant, innumerable cell culture tests were done with very low concentrations of diverse poisonous materials. They could at last demonstrate the existence of the similia principle at cell level. In 1998 an excellent documentary was made in which not only this cell research but also clinical research at that time is depicted. View this video ‘On your Own Strength’ and realize how advanced we already were at that time and how little has been done with it by the established scientific world. Actually, instead of researching the findings further, there is denial and opposition rather than enthusiasm for this re-discovered paradoxical phenomenon.

More recently the scientific state of affairs was again discussed during the symposium held by the VHAN foundation, on April 9, 2014 in the Domus Medica in Utrecht. The insights demonstrated there, show an unmistakable development that cannot be stopped anymore.

In spite of all opposition (with the Benveniste research as its symbol because he is called ‘a heretic’ in this film) the outpouring of research continues and will only enrich scientific thinking.

My own ponderings on homeopathy already started during my academic training as a pharmacist. The opposition at that time is comparable with the one now (e.g. Minister Schippers in 2011) and apparently of all times. But meanwhile Prof. Dr. Luc Montagnier has reported about his findings with potentised DNA on French television with the high-profile title: ‘On a retrouvé la memoire de l’eau’.  Also available in English.
It appears that it totally rehabilitates Benveniste.  An other research groupe in Stuttgart researched also the memory of water with interesting results.

The ‘royal road’ will ultimately lead to a constructive merging of regular and alternative medicine. Read the blogs by homeopathic MD Frans Kusse to learn more about it. And if you want to know how things were 38 years ago, take a peep at MD Dicke’s thesis  titled: detoxification on homeopathic foundations. On the front page there is a cartoon, that you can see underneath.

In case you are wondering whether homeopathy for animals has been researched, I would like to point out the site of the homeopathic veterinary Liesbeth Ellinger.

Besides the above named publications we have an extensive digital thesis (in Dutch) which shows the state of the art of

present scientific research in homeopathy and demonstrates quite clearly why more research will not change a thing in contemporary thinking among regular scientists. The thesis reads like a thriller and we hope, it will not only fill a gap but will keep you entertained too. Lisette Verdoes, a co-worker at the Hahnemann Pharmacy, wrote this thesis for her graduation as a homeopathic professional from the Homeopathic Academy in Bloemendaal.

We hope the thesis will stimulate others to do research in subfields or to publish about it. The target is not to convince regular scientists, but to keep on developing our knowledge and insights into the working of homeopathy.
