The most important Dutch legal provisions relating to homeopathic medicines.

1. All homeopathic remedies have the status of medicinal products in accordance with the Medicines Act.
 

2. All registered homeopathic remedies have the official medicinal product status: UAD. This means: Only available for purchase at pharmacies and chemists.
 

3. All other homeopathic remedies are unregistered medicines and have the status: UA. This means they are only available for purchase from a pharmacy as an officinal preparation (for the pharmacy's own patients) or a magistral preparation (preparation prescribed by an expert).
 

4. Because they are all medicines, strict requirements apply to their preparation, shelf life and labelling.
 

5. The purchase and sale of unregistered homeopathic medicines is not permitted, unless
through a pharmacy that dispenses them to patients (see point 3).
 

6. No unregistered homeopathic medicines are permitted in the practice (only
emergency kit).
 

7. No books or leaflets about the specific effects of homeopathic medicines
are permitted in the pharmacy/drugstore/waiting room/website.
